Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer Internship for Summer 2027 in the California Buildings district.

The role offers hands-on project exposure across Glendale, Irvine, San Diego, Santa Barbara and surrounding areas, with a clear path toward PM/Superintendent/Estimator careers. As an enrolled student in construction-related studies, you will assist project teams, learn to read drawings, manage submittals, and gain real-site experience under mentorship.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.
• A desire to pursue a career as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Estimator.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Driver's License.
• Willing to work and live in the Southern California area.
• Willing to temporarily relocate to project locations.
• Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs.
• Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment.
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party.

Responsibilities

• Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents.
• Conducts safety audits and quality audits.
• Reads and understand drawings and specifications.
• Logs submittals, process RFI's and prepare reports.
• Assists with surveying and project layout.
• Maintains and update field drawings, field equipment and records.
• Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors and field staff.
• Coordinates material deliveries and documentation.
• Attends relevant project meetings.
• Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents.
• Assists with project documentation requirements.
• Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing.
• Other duties as assigned.
