Responsibilities

  • Assist submittals, field work packages, and takeoffs.

  • Produce daily reports in construction management software.
  • Coordinate material deliveries.
  • Assist with field verifications, inspections, and measurements.
  • Ensure latest drawings and installation documents are available.
  • Attend safety meetings and complete required trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seekingField Engineer Internsacross theUnited StatesinPetaluma, CA; Sacramento, CA; Bakersfield, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Denver, CO; San Antonio, TX; Cincinnati, OH; Havre de Grace, MD; Washington D.C.; Springfield, VA; Gastonia, NC; and Harrison, NJ to join our team.

As a Field Engineer Intern, you’ll be in the middle of construction operations, giving you direct hands‑on learning experiences. Our interns have many of the same day to day responsibilities and expectations as our full‑time employees. You will work alongside our project engineers and field engineers to learn the construction process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non‑exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Assist in submittals, field work packages, compiling as‑built data, verifying quantities, field safety and quality inspections.
  • Perform procurement quantity takeoffs.
  • Daily reports in construction management software.
  • Assist with compilation of necessary information for all submittals and coordinate with Document Control to ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist with coordination of material deliveries.
  • Assist with field verifications, inspections, and measurements.
  • Work closely with document control and field personnel to ensure they have latest drawings and installation documents.
  • Assist with cost coding.
  • Review and understand the redline/as‑built process.
  • Attend necessary briefings and safety meetings as required.
  • Attain necessary job specific training.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pursing a degree.
  • Must be flexible in working in both office and field environment as needed.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Must have strong organization skills
  • Must have highly motivated
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Subject to pre‑employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre‑employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non‑exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
