Job summary

Nightwing Group in Sterling, VA is seeking a cleared Field Engineer/Installer to repair, test, and deploy devices for global networks supporting USG missions. You will work as part of a team installing and maintaining Cisco-based telecommunications systems, servers, routers, switches, UPS and power infrastructure, operating in remote autonomous environments and traveling to CONUS/OCONUS sites.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years as a field engineer supporting technical programs.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, SIP and IP services.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience with UPS and AC/DC power systems and cabling.
  • Ability to fabricate required equipment and work with CAT5/6 and fiber.
  • Proficient with Remedy, Visio and MS Office.
  • Must be US citizen with TS/SCI clearance and polygraph.
  • Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS up to 50% and work independently.

Nightwing is seeking a cleared and experienced Field Engineer/Installer in the Fairfax VA area in support of USG. The selected candidate will be responsible for repairing, testing, and deploying devices in support of a global network. Work as a member of a team installing and maintaining a host of today’s latest communication systems and complex networks. Expected to work in remote autonomous environments across the globe and collaborate with a diverse cadre of IT Operational Specialist, LAN/WAN Engineers as well as Facility management and Logistical professionals. Travel OCONUS to conduct site surveys as well as, install/repair equipment with relations to network/facilities equipment and specifications. Design, update and record all areas of system installations and connectivity, using Customer procedures and direction. Train customers in the operation of equipment and testing of installed systems. Compose, review, and provide updates to technical documentation. **Required Skills:*** Requires 6+ years’ experience as a field engineer supporting technical programs, however expertise, training and actual work experience with specific systems and/or technology is significantly more important than the number of years of experience* Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP* Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches* Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection* Working knowledge of CAT 5, CAT 6, and Fiber Optic cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment* Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more* Possess expert knowledge in how to deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer IT infrastructure and enterprise operations.* Responsible for procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of large projects.
