Job summary

Nightwing Group is seeking a Network Engineer in Arlington, VA to design, implement, and maintain our lab network infrastructure for a U.S. Government client.

You will work on incident response support, network security, and integration of new technologies across multiple platforms including VPNs, VDI, Linux/Unix, and MacOS. Required 5+ years in network administration, DoD clearance (or ability to obtain DHS suitability), and experience with Cisco/Palo Alto equipment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of directly relevant experience in network administration.
  • Proficiency with multiple operating systems including Linux/Unix and MacOS.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Experience with networking and network administration.
  • Skilled with virtual desktop environments (Citrix, VMware).
  • Able to collaborate across physical locations.

Nightwing brings disruptive technologies, agility, and competitive offerings to customers in the intelligence community, defense, civil, and commercial markets.Nightwing is supporting a U.S. Government customer to provide support for onsite incident response to civilian Government agencies and critical asset owners who experience cyber-attacks, providing immediate investigation and resolution. Contract personnel perform investigations to characterize of the severity of breaches, develop mitigation plans, and assist with the restoration of services. Nightwing is seeking a motivated network engineer to implement, maintain and support the lab network infrastructure.**Responsibilities:**- Leverage advanced analytical and technical skills to design and implement infrastructure solutions that enhance mission execution and support command decision-making.- Support the integration of new technologies and equipment within lab environments, including development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.- Assess network topology and device configurations, identify critical security vulnerabilities, and recommend security best practices.- Provide user support for Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) such as Citrix, as well as MacOS and iOS platforms.- Troubleshoot and resolve a broad range of technical issues, from basic to complex network problems- Implement granular access controls, monitor system performance and accessibility, establish and maintain backup protocols, and ensure system security.- Diagnose and resolve complex enterprise storage issues across local and wide area networks, including replication strategy support and remediation of storage-related incidents.- Design, build, and maintain robust network environments by configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as updating network devices and performing IP address audits.- Ensure optimal network performance by troubleshooting issues, enforcing system standards, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize infrastructure.- Secure network systems through policy enforcement, access controls, and continuous monitoring.**Required Skills:**- U.S. Citizenship- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, TS/SCI clearance is preferred- Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability- 5+ years of directly relevant experience in network administration- Proficiency with multiple operating systems, including Linux/Unix and MacOS- Strong knowledge and experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs- Experience and knowledge of networking and network administration- Skilled in working with virtual desktop environments (Citrix, VMware)- Must be able to work collaboratively across physical locations**Desired Skills:**- Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches- Experience with converged infrastructure solutions (e.g., FlexPod) and NetApp storage systems- Proficiency with Cisco Intersight, vCenter, and virtualization automation/optimization- Strong documentation skills for technical procedures and SOPs- Capable of creating and maintaining network diagrams- Demonstrated experience in network design, implementation, and performance tuning- Project management capabilities and excellent time-management skills- Expertise in hardening network devices and infrastructure for enhanced security**Required Education:**BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering or related degree; or HS Diploma and 7+ years network administration, network engineering or systems administration experience.**Desired Certifications:**- DoD 8140.01 IAT Level II- Network+- CCNASyndeo: ESS-3611*At Nightwing, we value collaboration and teamwork.
