Job summary

Nightwing seeks a cleared Field Engineer/Installer in the Fairfax, VA area to repair, test, and deploy devices across a global network. The role requires active TS/SCI clearance and up to 50% travel, including potential CONUS/OCONUS assignments.

You will work with a team installing and maintaining modern communications systems, routers, switches, and power, with responsibilities spanning site surveys, installation, and training. Nightwing emphasizes collaboration and mission-focused results.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience as a field engineer supporting technical programs (emphasis on systems/tech)
• Experience in IP related services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, SIP
• Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
• Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems
• Working knowledge of CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling; capable of fabricating equipment as needed
• Familiarity with Remedy, Visio, and MS Office

Responsibilities

• Evaluate sites for installation of equipment and plan installations
• Install equipment (with racks if needed) and perform onsite testing
• Coordinate with engineers and customers during installation
• Install/connect cables and manage equipment logistics
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues

Nightwing is seeking a cleared and experienced Field Engineer/Installer in the Fairfax VA area in support of USG. The selected candidate will be responsible for repairing, testing, and deploying devices in support of a global network. Work as a member of a team installing and maintaining a host of today’s latest communication systems and complex networks. Expected to work in remote autonomous environments across the globe and collaborate with a diverse cadre of IT Operational Specialist, LAN/WAN Engineers as well as Facility management and Logistical professionals. Travel OCONUS to conduct site surveys as well as, install/repair equipment with relations to network/facilities equipment and specifications. Design, update and record all areas of system installations and connectivity, using Customer procedures and direction. Train customers in the operation of equipment and testing of installed systems. Compose, review, and provide updates to technical documentation.

Required Skills:

• Requires 6+ years’ experience as a field engineer supporting technical programs, however expertise, training and actual work experience with specific systems and/or technology is significantly more important than the number of years of experience
• Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP
• Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
• Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection
• Working knowledge of CAT 5, CAT 6, and Fiber Optic cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment
• Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more
• Possess expert knowledge in how to deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer IT infrastructure and enterprise operations.
• Responsible for procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of large projects. Manage installation and team while at the field site.
• Must have the ability to complete complex assignments without direction.
• Able to troubleshoot difficult and complex problems while in the field to complete installation successfully.
• Ensures that systems are implemented on schedule .

Additional Field Engineer duties shall include but are not limited to the following:

• Evaluate sites for the installation of equipment
• Install applicable equipment (with racks if needed)

• Install and connect applicable cables
• Coordinate pick-up and delivery of equipment
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($99,000-$206,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
