Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. (JSG) seeks a mechanical engineer to support odor control and related systems. You will manage startups, calibrations, and performance testing while traveling extensively across North America.

The role requires a bachelor's in mechanical engineering or related field, plus hands-on certification and experience with piping, pumps, valves, and automation. This position is on-site in the United States with frequent travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Technical certification demonstrating hands-on piping, pumps, and automation skills.
• Experience in startup, performance testing, or servicing odor control or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead system startup, troubleshooting, and calibration duties.
• Perform performance testing and verification across North America.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures and training materials.

Required Skills:

• Mechanical engineering background (4-year degree , or 2-year degree with relevant experience)
• Experience with PLCs and automation systems is highly advantageous
• Proficiency in working with piping, motor-controlled valves, pumps, and programmable controllers
• Strong organizational, documentation, and writing skills
• Competence in MS Office applications
• Valid passport for international travel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional attitude with excellent communication skills

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with programming adjustments to PLCs and HMIs
• Familiarity with field digital and analog instruments such as pH probes and flow meters
• Skills in welding plastics and repairing fiberglass
• Experience in developing standard operating procedures and training materials

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Technical school certification demonstrating hands‑on skills with piping, pumps, and automation systems
• Prior experience in startup, performance testing, or servicing odor control or similar systems

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to travel approximately 70% across North America, primarily within the USA, with potential international trips
• Ability to carry out system startup, troubleshooting, performance testing, and calibration duties
• Eagerness to continuously upgrade skills in PLC programming and system controls
