Job summary

CSA Group is seeking a qualified Construction Inspector to join our Albany-area project teams. The role calls for experience in electrical or mechanical facilities, laboratories, healthcare or pharmaceutical settings, and a commitment to rigorous inspection practices.

You will prepare comprehensive daily reports, review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings and change orders, enforce safety procedures, and coordinate with diverse stakeholders to ensure compliant, on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from Accredited University.
• 5 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, laboratories, healthcare, pharmaceutical facilities, and R&D.
• Valid Class C (or equivalent) driver’s license.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification.
• Knowledge of construction inspection procedures and related projects.
• Ability to read, interpret, and enforce plans, specifications, design manuals, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in contract administration: submittals, RFIs, change-orders, claims, and payment application review.
• Skilled in preparing clear, concise written reports, sketches, and photographic records.
• Good oral and written communication; ability to lead meetings and coordinate among diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day construction monitoring and detailed inspections.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, IDRs, photographs, field books/diaries, sketches, and record drawings.
• Review and process contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, change-order proposals, and contract-claim documentation; conduct change-order and delay-analysis using CPM methods.
• Document and analyze time-and-material and unit-price work; review payment applications and provide recommendations for adjustments.
• Enforce safety procedures (OSHA-30, fall protection, confined-space entry, work-zone requirements); issue noncompliance notices or suspend work for life-threatening safety violations after consultation with supervisors.

• Capacity to identify constructability issues, recommend corrective actions, and promote efficient project delivery.
