Job summary

CSA Group is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer in New York to design electrical power systems, lighting and security, and to lead cost estimates across design phases. You will verify conditions on site, prepare multi-trade drawings, and manage contract documents throughout construction.

The role requires 4+ years’ experience, familiarity with NY/NJ standards, and strong communication abilities. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is mandatory; REVIT and e-Builder are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 4+ years’ experience in electrical power systems design, service room layout, site lighting and security.
• Familiarity with NY and NJ engineering standards and practice.
• Understanding of Contract Documents and construction administration.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; REVIT and e-Builder desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design services of moderate difficulty under supervision.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions.
• Design and prepare engineering drawings for discipline-specific or multi-trade projects.
• Prepare outline and final specifications.
• Develop and verify cost estimates and quantities at all design phases.
• Prepare contract drawings and bid documents.
• Participate in design reviews and revise documents accordingly.
• Support bid, award, and construction phases.
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
• Perform design reviews of documents prepared by others.
• Participate in functional testing of pumps, instrumentation, control panels, PLC systems, alarms, interlocks, and SCADA interfaces.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Design of electrical power systems, service room layout, site lighting & security, load calculations, fire alarm systems, layer access control, building information systems, communication antennas and lighting systems.
• Engineer-In-Training License or Professional Engineer License preferred.
• Familiarity with New York and New Jersey Engineering design standards, codes, and industry standards of practice relevant to all aspects of Professional Engineering Design.
• Familiarity and understanding of Contract Documents for Engineering, and administration of same during the Construction Phase.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, communication abilities for both graphics and writing.
• Exposure to project management methodology to track and control budget, schedule and quality of electrical deliverables.
• Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD & Microsoft Office capabilities is mandatory; and REVIT and e-Builder experience is desirable. Revit experience is preferred, not mandatory.
• Experience designing electrical and I&C systems for municipal water and wastewater facilities.
• Experience with PLC and SCADA platforms commonly used in municipal utility systems.
• Available to attend site visits, in-office and client meetings.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
• Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
