Job summary

CSA Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our project teams. You will perform day-to-day construction monitoring and inspections for HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, standards, and codes.

You will prepare detailed daily inspection reports and field records. Responsibilities include reviewing submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, change-orders, and contract-claims, plus conducting time-and-material reviews and ensuring safety compliance (OSHA-30).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university.
  • 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, laboratories, healthcare, pharmaceutical facilities, and R&D.
  • Valid Class C (or equivalent) driver’s license.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification.
  • Knowledge of construction inspection procedures, familiarity with laboratory, healthcare, and Pharmaceutical projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and enforce plans, specifications, design manuals, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in contract administration: submittals, RFIs, change-orders, claims, and payment applications review.
  • Skilled in preparing clear, concise written reports, sketches, and photographic records.
  • Good oral and written communication; ability to lead meetings and coordinate among diverse stakeholders.
  • Capacity to identify constructability issues, recommend corrective actions, and promote efficient project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily HVAC construction monitoring and inspections per plans, specs, standards and codes.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports, IDRs, photographs, field notes, sketches, and record drawings.
  • Review and process submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, change-orders, and contract-claim documentation; conduct CPM-based delay analysis.
  • Document and analyze time-and-material and unit-price work; review payments and provide adjustment recommendations.
  • Enforce safety procedures (OSHA-30, fall protection, confined-space, work-zone) and escalate life-threatening violations after consulting supervisors.

Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
