The role involves learning Energy Sustainability and Building Energy Performance of new residential construction within a 100‑mile radius around Raleigh, NC, with paid on‑the‑job training to perform Home Energy Audits per RESNET guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; relevant certifications advantageous.
• HERS Rater, Energy Star, Green Building, ACCA 310 HVAC Grading, IECC, HVAC EPA, BPI, LEED certifications are a plus.
• 2 years of work experience in HVAC, home remodeling, or construction is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform Home Energy Audits per RESNET/Energy Star guidelines.
• Conduct visual inspections of materials and control assemblies; collect data and observe energy features.
• Utilize equipment for tests: infiltration, blower door, ventilation, duct leakage; adjust systems as needed.
• Develop relationships with builders and code officials; prepare electronic audit reports; handle internal paperwork.
