Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer to support project teams, coordinate field operations, and work with trade partners to deliver complex projects safely and on schedule.

The role requires an associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field, 0–12 months of field experience, and strong communication with proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction software.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
• 0–12 months of field engineer/coordinator experience; internships may count.
• Knowledge of construction specifications, methods and procedures.
• Understands and applies construction principles to problem solve.
• Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and subs.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear technical communication to trade contractors, designers and inspectors.
• Develops and maintains effective partner relationships.
• Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and construction related software.

Responsibilities

• Mentors and leads inspections and orientations, identifies hazards and corrections, and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
• Coordinates with superintendent on workforce planning.
• Maintains project document control and procedures. Supports project engineers and/or superintendents to lead trade contractors, including requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, changes, and billings.
• Participates in the supervision of self‑perform scopes, including resolving crew sizes, labor tracking, and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
• Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns).
• Identifies issues on‑site or in defined work scopes.
• Coordinates third‑party inspections and site reviews.
• Participates in crafting, implementing, and supervising quality plan, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
• Develop and maintains positive relationships focusing on all partners.
