Job summary

Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Carlos seeks a Field Engineer/Project Engineer for General Construction Gas Distribution Engineering. You will perform pre- and post-construction reviews, prepare estimates, validate As-Built drawings, and coordinate with multiple departments and agencies.

The role requires attending pre-construction meetings, ensuring NEC compliance, reviewing contractor invoices, and aiding scheduling. Travel up to 50% and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Construction disciplines or 2 years experience with supplemental education (Physics, Electricity, Chemistry, Math, etc.).
• EIT certificate satisfies supplemental education requirement.
• Must possess valid CA Driver's License and be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical and engineering services.
• Conducts job reviews, pre-checks, site surveys, and USA markings & requests.
• Coordinates shutdowns and schedules with customers.
• Investigates issues with general construction projects (customer/3rd party).
• Supports General Construction Supervisor with daily construction tasks.
• Pre- and post-construction estimates; complete checks and as-builts; review invoices.
• Works with schedulers when planning construction.
• Ensures BOM accuracy for As-Builts.
• Uses computer to research, write proposals, and manage reports and correspondence.
• Communicates with supervisors, public officials, and customers about plans, issues, and timelines.
• Creates field sketches and layouts for gas/electric systems; records locations and time frames.
• Visits sites to assess access and facilities.
• Reviews regional As-Built packages for 100% accuracy.
• Hosts project construction status meetings.
• Maintains field labor hour input.
