Job description

Field Engineer

MILLER Brothers, Inc.

Marshall, VA, US

The time is now.

We’re looking for a Site Engineer ready to take command of the field — leading from the front, executing with precision, and setting the standard for quality and accountability on every project. If you take pride in doing things the right way, staying two steps ahead, and bringing structure to the chaos of the job site, we want to talk to you.

At MILLER Brothers, Inc., we believe your work should fuel you. We’re a fourth-generation, veteran- and woman-owned Commercial General Contractor with over a century of craftsmanship, quality, and innovation. We’re looking for a Site Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, learns quickly, and is ready to grow into a key player in field leadership.

What We Offer
  • Real opportunity to lead – start with mentorship and quickly ramp up to managing day-to-day field operations.
  • Direct access to leadership – work alongside superintendents and project managers who value your initiative and input.
  • Hands‑on experience – learn by doing on active, high‑visibility commercial projects.
  • A century of stability – join a company built on integrity, innovation, and relationships that last.
  • Professional growth – we invest in developing leaders who are as skilled as they are driven.
What You’ll Do
  • 📋 Own the field – take accountability for site execution, ensuring work meets specifications, safety standards, and schedule requirements.
  • 👷♂️ Learn from the best – shadow a senior superintendent to master field operations, site coordination, and project flow.
  • 🔧 Execute with precision – assist with layout, material staging, and field production activities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • 📦 Stay ahead of the curve – plan material readiness and equipment needs 48 hours in advance to keep crews productive and prevent delays.
  • 🧰 Protect the tools of the trade – manage tool and equipment inventory, ensuring all resources are tracked, maintained, and properly stored.
  • 🔍 Champion quality – perform field walkthroughs, prepare for inspections, and ensure all work areas meet contract and company standards.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong foundation in construction, sitework, or field engineering — 1–3+ years preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to translate plans into action.
  • Clear, confident communicator who can coordinate with crews, vendors, and leadership.
  • Driven problem‑solver who thrives in fast‑paced environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Ability to read plans, perform layout verification, and document field progress.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all conditions and perform field tasks.
Why Now

If you’re ready to take ownership, learn from leaders, and help deliver the kind of projects that define a century-old name in construction, this is your opportunity. We move fast, we build right, and we take pride in every finish line we cross.

A conversation is not a commitment — it costs nothing to see if this could be your next move.
