Job summary

Kraemer North America is seeking a Field Engineer based in the Mountain West Region (WA) with opportunities to work on multi‑region projects across the U.S. The role focuses on ensuring crews follow the Work Activity Plan, maintaining safety, quality, and project documentation while coordinating with subcontractors.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, have strong analytical and communication skills, and are comfortable with construction software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
  • Experience in heavy civil projects preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety program implementation and field safety inspections.
  • Ensure quality via planning, submittals, RFIs and field inspections.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project costs and track quantities for reporting.
  • Assist foremen with layout, elevations and coordination.
  • Build positive relations with owners, inspectors and stakeholders.
  • Participate in Kraemer University courses for career growth.

Job description

Target Location: This opening is based out of our Mountain West Region - WA area.

Kraemer North America is currently looking for Field Engineers to join our teams in the Upper Midwest Region (MN, WI, IL, IA), the Mountain West Region (CO and WA), and our National Railroad Group, which travels to projects across the U.S. As a Field Engineer, you will gain hands‑on experience in the heavy civil construction industry, along with the opportunity to work on diverse projects. The Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring Kraemer crews plan their work by following the Work Activity Plan process while adhering to and promoting Kraemer’s culture of QUALITY, SAFETY, EXCELLENCE. Responsibilities include making sure crews have the information needed, inspecting work as it is installed, closely monitoring and assisting field operations, tracking materials and work performed on the project, and supporting subcontractor quality control and quantities.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a leader helping to oversee and implement Kraemer's Safety Program to ensure the safe execution of construction projects and protection of Kraemer personnel.
  • Ensure Quality is built into all Kraemer construction operations through the successful execution of planning, project document control, including submittals, RFIs and compliance records, and thorough field quality control inspections.
  • Assist with overall construction management operations by coordinating and scheduling subcontractors, suppliers, and/or Kraemer self‑perform work, providing construction oversight, recognizing and responding to construction issues, and assisting with engineering design and implementation.
  • Actively participate in ensuring the financial health of the project by measuring and tracking quantities, understanding and recording project expenditures, and preparing and analyzing project cost reports, then taking actionable steps to ensure continued success.
  • Assist foremen and superintendents with various construction activities including layout of construction elements, providing elevation and grade control, crew oversight and coordination, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with project owners, inspectors, and stakeholders by upholding Kraemer's Core Values. Quickly communicate and respond to issues in a manner that provides the best outcome for the project.
  • Routinely attend Kraemer University courses to develop skills and knowledge in other core competencies necessary for career development and growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • Previous experience in heavy civil preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Passion for safety and construction
  • Previous experience working with construction software preferred
  • Previous experience working with AGTEK/AutoCAD preferred

Salary: $85,000. Base salary is dependent on multiple factors: education, experience, skills, market rates, internal equity and/or location.
