Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an experienced professional to join the Upgrade Operations team in a pipeline role designed to build talent for future openings. You will manage upgrades on live customer systems, optimizing performance and minimizing downtime while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires travel over 50%, deep knowledge of LAN/WAN networks and RF systems, and strong troubleshooting skills. A background clearance is required, with eligible U.S.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in engineering technology or related field is required.
  • Related certifications are a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain government background clearance and travel 50%+.

Department Overview

The Upgrade Operations (UO) department specializes in performing software and hardware upgrades on live customer systems. The UO department focus is on minimizing the customer's downtime during software upgrades in order to optimize their upgrade experience during the moments that matter.

Job Description

NOTE: Motorola Solutions is building talent pipelines to meet future hiring demands. This is a pipeline role, while there is not an immediate opening, we want to build relationships with prospective candidates like you. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the optimization, testing, and documentation of sophisticated communication systems, ensuring high performance through upgrades of specialized product applications.
  • Provision system infrastructure and troubleshoot software-driven electronics, including RF and Broadband architectures such as digital P25, data infrastructure, and legacy analog systems.
  • Execute upgrades for server hardware, operating systems, and software, resolving application issues through expert troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to deliver advanced solutions that exceed customer expectations.

Technical Expertise & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer network systems (LAN/WAN), including the setup and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and cabling.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of R.F. systems, antenna networks, transmitters, receivers, and packet switching techniques.
  • Utilize strong self-management and interpersonal skills to work effectively with Motorola customers, subcontractors, and internal service teams.
  • Remain self-motivated while working remotely, with the ability to provide rapid problem resolution in high-pressure environments.
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly progress reports detailing accomplishments and key activities.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
  • Must be willing to travel >50% of the time as needed.
Basic Requirements
  • Associates degree in engineering technology or related field OR related certifications
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
