Job summary

Wolverine Construction is seeking a Field Engineer to jump-start a construction career on commercial projects in Michigan. You will work directly with project leaders, learning preconstruction through completion while helping manage safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

The role requires carpentry experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a Bachelor's in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Carpentry experience is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering is required or equivalent work experience.
• OSHA 10-hour certification is required or to be completed within six months of hire.
• Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR and OSHA 30-hour certification.

Responsibilities

• Gains project management experience on smaller commercial projects, learning best practices from team members.
• Supports relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and consultants under guidance from senior staff.
• Gains experience in construction processes, including estimating, safety, scheduling, contract management, and closeout.
• Assists with permitting, bidding, value engineering, and coordinating trades during preconstruction.
• Prepares proposals, status updates, and schedules for superintendents and project managers.
• Champions safety, maintaining a Safety-First approach throughout the project.
• Supports project processes from kickoff to closeout, attending meetings, maintaining documentation, and assisting with field work.
• Drafts and supports implementation of site-specific safety plans.
• Completes project financial tasks, including change orders, budget updates, and invoice approvals.
• Supplies information for project health dashboards, reviewing with the supervisor monthly.
• Coordinates scope changes with the jobsite Superintendent.
• Conducts site walk-throughs, schedules work and resolves issues as they arise.
• Supports client relationships and expectations to generate repeat work.
• Tracks lessons learned and shares client evaluations with the team.
• Assists with job site de-mobilization and closeout documents, ensuring green building requirements are met.

Requirements:

• Must have valid driver’s license.

The following training is required (and provided by Wolverine):

• OSHA 10-hour certified or completed within six months of hire.

Already or willing to become trained in:

• First Aid and CPR


• OSHA 30-Hour certified
