Expected Outcomes and Requirements

Gateway is hiring a Field Engineer to assist in building and maintaining our network expansion efforts in support of Gateway’s growth trajectory of adding 100,000 residential & business passings per year. The Field Engineer is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:

  • Manage all physical connectivity of equipment in Central Offices and Active Cabinets.
  • Complete installation of server racks and cabinets.
  • Install optical transceivers and fiber optic jumpers.
  • Work cross‑functionally to determine connectivity requirements for different departments.
  • Complete equipment racking and grounding to design specifications.
  • Perform cable continuity testing and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Perform equipment and hardware testing and turn‑up and verify appropriate status.
  • Install, add, and remove batteries per design specifications and life cycle needs.
  • Provide knowledge and input regarding network engineering and design capabilities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring the following to the table:

  • 10+ Years of Field Engineer experience.
  • 3+ Years of Telecom Experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Complex problem‑solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task.
  • Strong follow‑up skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including positive phone demeanor.
  • Proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for varying lengths of time throughout a day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
