Job description

Gateway Fiber is hiring a Field Engineer to play a critical role in expanding our nationwide fiber‑to‑the‑home network. The engineer will install, maintain, and support the physical infrastructure that powers faster, more reliable internet for tens of thousands of homes and businesses.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all physical connectivity of equipment in Central Offices and Active Cabinets.
  • Complete installation of server racks and cabinets.
  • Install optical transceivers and fiber optic jumpers.
  • Work cross‑functionally to determine connectivity requirements for different departments.
  • Perform cable continuity testing and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform equipment and hardware testing, turn‑up, and verify appropriate status.
  • Install, add, and remove batteries per design specifications and lifecycle needs.
  • Provide knowledge and input regarding network engineering and design capabilities.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Field Engineer experience.
  • 3+ years of telecom experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and make sound decisions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 140 lbs, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
