Job summary

FLANDERS in Lakeland, FL seeks a Field Electrical Technician to support Field Service Engineers at customer sites. You will diagnose and repair control systems and motors, document services, and maintain tools, bearing safety and quality standards on site.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 3 years electrical experience in heavy industry, and willingness to travel overnight. Training from Field Engineers will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree and/or trade school degree in electrical or mechanical studies preferred.
• Three years electrical experience in a shop, field service and/or similar environment.
• Mining and metals industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AC and DC motors.
• Knowledge of PLC and/or VFD systems for machine troubleshooting.
• Ability to take after-hours calls.
• Strong math skills including algebra, trigonometry, and analytical geometry skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills working directly with customers at the customer's work sites.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high level priorities.
• Strong knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures.
• Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties.
• Overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues as they relate to control systems and their components and motors.
• Identify and assist with repair needs.
• Receive on-the-job training from Field Engineers.
• Complete necessary service documentation.
• Maintain tools and test equipment properly.
• Communicate with customers on technical questions and specifications in accordance with Field Service Engineers directions.
• Complete necessary service, time tracking, and expense documentation.
• Ensure that all completed work meets Flanders' Standards and complies with Flanders' ISO Quality System.
• Communicate clearly, concisely, and with accuracy to employees, customers, and vendors.
