Job summary

City and County of Denver is hiring an Electrical Inspector to join the Building Inspection team. You will perform electrical and fire alarm inspections, enforce Denver Building Code and NEC/NFPA standards across various sites, and prepare detailed reports.

The role requires fieldwork with independent decision-making and strong communication with property owners and contractors. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 3 years of journey-level electrician experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from high school or GED; 3 years journey-level electrician experience.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and Denver Building Code.
• Ability to interpret codes and explain to owners, contractors, and the public.
• Proficiency with Accela and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical and fire alarm inspections across occupancies.
• Ensure compliance with Denver Building Code and NEC/NFPA rules.
• Identify corrective actions and enforce permit requirements.
• Investigate complaints and issue stop-work orders if needed.
• Prepare written inspection reports and maintain records.
