Job summary

Gregory Construction in Abilene, TX is seeking a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Mechanic to support our Abilene project operations. The role focuses on inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on excavators, skid steers, dozers, loaders, graders, and trucks.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hands-on experience with heavy equipment, strong diesel engine and hydraulic systems knowledge, and the ability to work outdoors at active construction sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting, or repairing heavy equipment and/or construction fleet vehicles.
• Experience with heavy construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dozers, loaders, graders.
• Heavy diesel mechanic experience preferred including diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Must be comfortable performing routine preventive maintenance and more involved repairs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of heavy equipment, trucks, and fleet vehicles to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, filter changes, lubrication, and scheduled services.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues on construction equipment and fleet vehicles.
• Assist with repairs to keep equipment safe, reliable, and operational in the field.
• Communicate repair needs to leadership and coordinate with operators.
