Job summary

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) is seeking a Construction Manager to lead underground fiber optic utility projects from inception to completion. You will drive project profitability, manage client relations, and mentor field teams in a safety- and efficiency-focused culture in Uvalde, Texas.

The role requires 3+ years in directional drilling with utilities, strong supervision, and field-based leadership. You will work closely with the Director of Operations and may rotate to night shifts as

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in directional drilling/utility construction.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Ability to coordinate with Environmental Monitors, DOT/OSHA, municipalities.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and adjust construction drawings/prints.
  • Direct experience with utility locating systems.
  • Strong computer skills and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities of a fiber optic utility network.
  • Ensure safe and quality construction practices with internal and subcontract crews.
  • Field engagement: work with crews 100% of the day.
  • Verify construction progress using a utility locator to identify depth and offsets.
  • Collect photos, bore logs, and data for customer QC requirements.
  • Apply quality metrics to meet customer, municipality, and environmental specs.
  • Willingness to work night shifts on a rotation basis.
