Job summary

BrandSafway is seeking a field drilling technician in Midland, TX. The role involves operating drill rigs, selecting bits, performing maintenance, and documenting progress, with travel and long shifts as required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Willing to work 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
• Valid CDL Class A from state of residence.
• Minimum of 1 year vertical drilling experience.
• Must pass a minimum of a 6-month DOT physical, pre-placement drug screen and satisfactory background check.
• Must have acceptable driving record per Brand's Vehicle Policy.
• Must demonstrate ability to work safely and adhere to safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in the field.
• Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs.
• Willing to travel up to 75% (3 weeks on, 1 week off).
• Must be willing to work long hours such as 12-hour shifts.
• Must work well with others and learn from mentors.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate drill rig and equipment during installation.
• Select and attach drill bits and rods, adding more rods as hole depths increase.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on machines and equipment.
• Operate controls to stabilize machines and position drills.
• Record drilling progress and geological data.
• Drive trucks, tractors, or truck-mounted drills to work sites.
• Review client requirements and proposed locations for drilling operations.
• Inspect core samples and take samples to laboratories for analysis.
