We are partnering with a growing organization in North Houston seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist to join its local HR team. This is a hands-on, full-cycle recruiting role for someone who enjoys owning the hiring process, building strong relationships with hiring leaders, and developing creative strategies to attract talent in competitive markets.
This position will recruit across a wide range of roles, including hourly, salaried, technical, professional, skilled trades, and leadership positions. In addition to day-to-day recruiting, this individual will have the opportunity to help strengthen the organization’s overall talent strategy by building recruiting processes, tracking key metrics, developing talent pipelines, and creating internship and apprenticeship programs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recruiter who wants to do more than fill open positions and have a direct impact on how an organization attracts and develops its future workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full recruitment lifecycle from intake and sourcing through interviews, offers, and candidate acceptance.
- Partner closely with hiring managers and operational leaders to understand current and future staffing needs.
- Develop targeted sourcing strategies for both high-volume and hard-to-fill positions.
- Proactively source candidates through direct outreach, referrals, social media, professional networks, job boards, schools, and community partnerships.
- Conduct candidate screenings and behavioral interviews to evaluate experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
- Manage interview processes and maintain consistent communication with candidates and hiring teams.
- Build and maintain pipelines for recurring, specialized, and difficult-to-fill positions.
- Develop compelling job advertisements and recruitment campaigns that strengthen candidate attraction.
- Help establish and improve recruiting processes, tools, and best practices across the organization.
- Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, source effectiveness, applicant conversion, offer acceptance, and new-hire retention.
- Analyze recruiting trends and provide recommendations to HR leadership.
- Design and help manage a structured internship program aligned with future workforce needs.
- Support apprenticeship and workforce development initiatives.
- Build relationships with universities, community colleges, technical schools, workforce organizations, and industry groups.
- Represent the organization at career fairs, recruiting events, educational institutions, and community events.
- Partner with HR and business leadership on workforce planning and long-term talent pipeline development.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
- Experience recruiting within skilled trades, industrial, manufacturing, construction, field services, DOT, or similar operational environments is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to independently source and engage candidates rather than relying solely on inbound applicants.
- Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills.
- Experience partnering directly with hiring managers and operational leadership.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and modern recruiting tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple openings and priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable using recruiting data and metrics to evaluate effectiveness and improve processes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience developing talent pipelines, internship programs, apprenticeship programs, or workforce development initiatives is a plus.
