Job summary

Brunswick County Public Utilities is seeking a Distribution Mechanic to join the Water Construction team. The role supports construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems across our service area.

Work includes manual labor and operation of heavy equipment. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid NC or SC driver's license, and ideally NC Water Distribution or Sewer Collections certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or GED) and experience in sewer and/or water construction.
• NC Sewer Collections and/or Water Distribution certification preferred.
• Experience in construction-related fields is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor and skilled work as part of a crew for water/wastewater construction, installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Install and repair water and sewer lines and mains.
• Respond to sanitary sewer backups and maintain system integrity.
• Operate equipment such as pumps, jet/vac trucks, backhoes, and power tools as required.
