Job summary

TranSource Truck & Equipment, Inc. is hiring a Field Diesel Technician to cover the Belgrade area in Montana. You will repair, diagnose, and maintain diesel trucks and equipment, both in the field and in shop settings, with opportunities for test drives and factory diagnostic work.

The role requires a 2-year technical degree or equivalent shop experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to travel. CDL is preferred and the company offers competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Repair, overhaul, and perform routine maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment per factory specs.
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
• Provide service and customer support in field or shop.
• Inspect and repair engines, drivetrain, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, HVAC, brakes and suspension.
• New vehicle inspection and final assembly including factory warranty repairs and computer diagnostics.
• Move customer trucks and equipment in and out of bays; drive for test drives (CDL).
• Follow safety regulations; work safely and independently in the field.
• Prepare accurate job reports and documentation.

About the Role

TranSource Truck & Equipment, Inc. is a growing company representing Mack Trucks, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Construction Equipment, along with being the Servicing Dealer for multiple other product lines that support the On Highway, Construction and Agriculture Industry. Due to growth, we are currently looking to hire a Field Diesel Technician in the Belgrade area. At TranSource Truck & Equipment, we are committed to delivering exceptional products and services to our customers. Our team is growing, and we’re looking for a detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive technician to cover the Belgrade area and help us continue building strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Repair, overhaul, and perform routine maintenance on diesel Trucks and Equipment according to factory specifications;
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions;
• Provide service and customer support in the field or shop;
• Inspect and repair engines, drivetrain, hydraulic, fuel, air, electrical, HVAC, brakes and suspension (actual job assignments based on abilities);
• New vehicle inspection and final assembly including factory warranty repairs and computer diagnostics and programming;
• Move customer trucks and equipment in and out of work bays, drive customer vehicles as needed for test drives (employees with CDL);
• Follows all safety regulations and policies. Works safely. Must be able to work alone out in the field;
• Performs work as outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately in accordance with dealership, factory, and customer standards;
• Utilize testing equipment, precision instruments and gauges, hand tools, portable power tools, cranes, and hoists as needed;
• Complete job reports and stories;
• Work independently.

Requirements

• 2-year technical degree and/or several years of comparable shop experience.
• Proven field service experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems and components, pneumatic, electrical and fuel systems.
• Previous experience working on Volvo equipment is a plus.
• Excellent diagnostic and trouble‑shooting skills.
• Able to work well under pressure.
• Ability to troubleshoot test, repair and service technical equipment.
• Ability to travel and work according to a changing schedule.
• Positive attitude. Desire to provide outstanding and professional customer service.
• Computer, written and verbal communication skills.
• Clean driving record. Insurable driving record, a current medical card or ability to obtain one.
• CDL preferred. Must pass a drug screening and background check.
