Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment at customer sites in the Los Angeles area.

You will travel to job sites, train junior technicians, and maintain accurate work orders, while upholding safety and service standards. The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, 3–5 years of relevant experience, and your own set of tools.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Own tools applicable to position
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of engines
• Superior customer service and teamwork
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for United Rentals’ policies and procedures
• High School diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed
