Job description

Join to apply for the FIELD DIESEL MECHANIC - EXPERIENCED role at United Rentals.

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV - Field Service), you'll perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment with limited supervision, ensuring safety and professionalism. This role offers opportunities for growth into leadership positions within our Service Department, emphasizing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment, using independent judgment.
  • Travel to customer sites for equipment repairs/maintenance; maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
  • Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
  • Document work performed accurately and timely in work orders or electronic systems.
  • Assist with equipment and parts pickup/delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • 5+ years of experience in repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Own tools applicable to the position.
  • Excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift items up to 45 lbs. frequently.

This position is Safety Sensitive per United Rentals policies.
