As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Field Service Tech II), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. Every day, you can improve and challenge yourself, and if you have the desire and ambition, you'll have the potential to work towards higher levels of Service Technician and leadership roles in our Service Department. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What You'll Do
  1. Perform safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
  2. Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
  3. Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed.
  4. Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner daily.
  5. Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  3. 1-2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate.
  4. Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  5. Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
  6. Must own tools applicable to position.
  7. Superior customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.
  8. Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
