Job summary

UFORCE seeks a Mission Software Specialist to deploy and sustain software-enabled autonomous systems in real-world missions. You will bridge customers, field ops, product, and engineering to own software deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting on the ground.

This role is hands-on and customer-facing, requiring frequent travel and independent work across software, networking, and edge-compute systems to ensure mission readiness and continuous improvement of deployments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering Linux systems and deploying software.
• Docker and containerized apps with upgrade/rollback experience.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls).
• SSH, logs, and diagnostics to isolate multi-layer problems.
• Bash or Python scripting and Git/version control workflows.
• CI/CD fundamentals and edge compute environments.
• Structured troubleshooting under time pressure.
• Clear communication with operators and engineers; training capability.
• Ability to work independently; coordinate across teams; field operations travel.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mission-ready deployments: Install, configure, validate, update at customer locations; complete readiness testing; maintain docs.
• Keep systems operational in the field: Diagnose and resolve software, network, compute, and integration issues; fault isolation.
• Give engineering actionable evidence: Capture logs, reproduce steps; produce bug reports; translate feedback into requirements.
• Build customer independence: Train operators; ensure safe use and routine recovery procedures.
• Make deployments repeatable: Improve baselines, checklists, automation, and playbooks.
• Build trust through technical ownership: Communicate risks; balance urgent needs with product improvements.
