Job summary

Firestorm is seeking an Application Engineer, Additive Manufacturing in San Diego, CA, to bridge customer needs with xCell capabilities. You’ll own manufacturing processes from DFM/DFAM through first article for additive and CNC in a field-ready system.

You’ll work on process development, materials, and creating repeatable instructions for operators, with deployment support across CONUS/OCONUS environments and a strong ownership mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or related).
• U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR; ability to obtain DoD clearance.
• 1+ years hands-on with MJF (Multi-Jet Fusion).
• 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• DfAM fluency; know how to make a part printable.
• Comfortable troubleshooting hardware and process problems in dynamic settings.
• Proficiency with CAD; SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop applications by turning customer part requirements into validated, repeatable processes for additive and CNC.
• Develop and qualify process parameters, materials, and part libraries for operators.
• Provide field & deployment support, train operators, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Engage with customers to translate mission needs into producible parts.
• Own first-article inspection and part qualification; drive fixes in the field.
• Feed field data back to engineering to improve future generations of xCell.
• Demonstrate high ownership and proactive problem-solving behavior.
