Job summary

Rune Technologies in the Washington DC area is seeking Forward Deployed Software Engineers to tackle full-stack development, networking, and systems integration for military logistics solutions. You will own end-to-end execution in small teams, collaborating with Product Engineering and Design to deliver reliable, high-quality software for DoD customers.

You will travel ~25% to deploy and gather feedback, with a strong emphasis on security, performance, and maintainability in demanding

Qualifications

• Strong coding skills in Go, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Willingness to travel ~25% to deploy and field-test.
• Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams and communicate clearly.
• Active U.S. secret security clearance required; top secret preferred.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or complex operational domains is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with end users to understand challenges and design software solutions.
• Own features from concept to deployment, including prototyping and system integration.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, design, and operations to build scalable systems.
• Monitor and improve system reliability by instrumenting code and analyzing metrics.
• Balance short-term needs with long-term maintainability for mission-focused outcomes.
• Travel ~25% to deploy and field-test systems.
