Citylogix is a data and analytics company transforming how transportation infrastructure is managed. We build intelligent GIS and asset management solutions that help municipalities and engineering partners make smarter, evidence-based decisions. Combining startup agility with deep technical expertise, our team works at the intersection of geospatial technology and civil infrastructure to solve real-world challenges and build smarter, more resilient communities.
About the role
This is a single, multi-modal field role. Every technician on the Data Collection team is trained and expected to operate all our collection systems:
- Driving our LiDAR-equipped collection vehicle for roadway and pavement projects
- Riding our survey e-scooters to collect video and geospatial data across sidewalk networks
- Working on foot to measure and assess curb ramps and sidewalk condition
Assignments are driven by project requirements, not by individual preference or specialisation. A single project may require all three modes in the same week — or the same day. Individual preference won’t be considered in assignments.
This is also a collection-only role. You capture data in the field using Citylogix's proprietary devices, applications, and methods; all processing, analysis, and deliverable production is handled by our office-based Processing, AI, and GIS teams. Your responsibility is to bring back complete, accurate, well-documented field data — and to transfer it each day using our software and verification procedures.
Before You Apply — Please Read
- You will travel, and often travel alone . Technicians are frequently deployed to project sites independently rather than as part of a crew.
- Deployments run for weeks at a time . Length is set by project scope and client schedule.
- During high season, you stay in the field . We cover travel to and from each deployment, accommodation, and per diem, but do not routinely provide interim return flights home between assignments during peak periods.
- Time off requires four weeks' notice , so that crew coverage and project schedules can be planned around it.
- Early starts . Shifts commonly begin at 6:00 AM and run 8–10 hours to make full use of available daylight.
- 5 to 6 days per week while deployed, including occasional weekend work and overtime.
- Full physical days in all three modes — up to 8 hours driving, or 8–10 hours riding an e-scooter, or 8–10 hours walking and measuring on foot, or a combination within the same day.
- You handle the gear . Daily setup, mounting, unmounting, and transport of collection equipment, some components exceeding 20 kg.
If those conditions work for you, the rest of this role is a good one: real ownership, clear procedures, and a direct line of sight from your work to a city's capital plan.
What you'll do
- Operate the collection vehicle and LiDAR system to capture roadway and pavement data on assigned projects.
- Operate survey e-scooters and our mobile collection application to capture video and geospatial data across sidewalk networks.
- Work on foot to collect attributes, measurements, and condition data for sidewalks and curb ramps, including physical measurement of ramp geometry and slopes.
- Follow Citylogix's proprietary collection procedures and use company-provided devices and applications exactly as trained.
- Switch between vehicle, scooter, and on-foot collection as project scope and daily schedules require, according to the scope of the project.
- Transfer collected data daily using company software, following verification procedures exactly.
- Meet delivery and quality targets on every project, and flag data or equipment problems in the field before they reach processing.
- Coordinate daily with other Data Collection team members, field leads, and the office to keep project execution on track.
- Handle daily equipment setup, mounting, care, and transport according to company procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Willingness and physical capability to perform all three collection modes — no technician is limited to a single system.
- Extreme attention to detail, and the discipline to follow procedures exactly rather than approximately.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to stay focused across long shifts.
- Comfort with computers, mobile applications, and structured data entry.
- Clear, prompt communication — raising problems early rather than resolving them silently.
- Problem-solving ability in a dynamic field environment where conditions and schedules change.
- Reliability. Crews and project schedules are built around people showing up and delivering.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver's licence in good standing, with a safe driving record.
- Valid passport and ability to cross the Canada–U.S. border for company training sessions and meetings.
- Ability to ride an e-scooter for 8–10 hour shifts and to walk 5–10 km in a day.
- Physical ability to lift, move, mount, and unmount equipment of 20+ kg on a daily basis.
- Willingness to travel for weeks at a time, work overtime, and work occasional weekends.
- Flexibility to sudden changes in schedule, location, and assigned collection type.
- Written and verbal fluency in English.
- High School Diploma / GED.
- Successful completion of a background check and driving record review.
Nice to Have
- Previous in-the-field or on-the-road data collection experience.
- Surveying, civil engineering, or pavement management background.
