Job summary

Hitachi Federal is seeking a Federal Field Service Engineer to provide onsite technical support for mission-critical infrastructure across Chicago-area federal customers. You will install, configure, upgrade, and maintain enterprise storage, compute, and networking environments while collaborating with FESC, Sales, and Engineering teams.

You will diagnose complex hardware and software issues, document activities, and ensure timely issue resolution.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in IT/engineering
  • 3–7+ years of field engineering, customer support, or technical services experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to travel throughout Chicago metro area to customer sites
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • On-call rotation including evenings, weekends, holidays

Responsibilities

  • Deliver onsite break/fix support for enterprise hardware and infrastructure solutions
  • Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, preventive maintenance, and hardware replacements
  • Execute implementation and integration services per project plans
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, storage, networking, and OS issues
  • Maintain detailed service documentation and provide status updates
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance per manufacturer recommendations
  • Support storage, compute, and networking infrastructure in production environments
  • Collaborate with other engineers to resolve escalated issues
  • Assist with system migrations, upgrades, firmware updates, and expansions
  • Ensure work complies with quality, security, and policy standards
