Job summary

Google Public Sector seeks a Field CTO, Research to join the Field Chief Technology Officer Office. The role drives high‑level customer engagements, shaping AI and data solutions for government and education clients, with deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform.

In this capacity, you’ll collaborate across GPS teams, influence strategic technology direction, and support transformations with executive stakeholders. Extensive travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience as an enterprise architect or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience in cloud market insights and cloud computing across applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms, or data.
• Experience with modern artificial intelligence (AI) paradigms, generative AI, and data technologies, including experience reviewing technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Step into high‑stakes executive meetings that require a deft touch and deep technical understanding.
• Build trust and collaborate with other Product Areas to co‑design solutions alongside customers and drive large initiatives.
• Act as mentor across GPS Customer Engineering and elevate the team through training and internal papers decoding market changes.
• Travel to customer sites, conferences, and related events as required (about 50%).

Minimum qualifications

• Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders, including tailoring and delivering compelling messages by audience, asking strategic questions, and leading conversations that drive business opportunity.
• Experience in architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.

US: $192000 - $267000 (USD) + 42.86% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Build trust and collaborate with other Product Areas like DeepMind (GDM), Geo, Research, and Jigsaw to co‑design solutions alongside our customers. Help build out massive initiatives like Gemini for Science, Gemini for Policy Making, and Threat Management for Governments.
• Act as mentor across GPS Customer Engineering. Elevate the entire team through podcasts, internal training, and real‑time position papers that decode market changes.
• Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required (can vary, on average ~50%).
