Job summary

Workstream is hiring a Restoration Technician / General Laborer to support SERVPRO of Stamford in Norwalk, CT. The role involves field work on fire and water damage restoration, loading equipment, and assisting with cleanup and prep for projects.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, adhere to safety guidelines, and coordinate with supervisors and other technicians. A High school diploma and a valid driver’s license are required; IICRC certification is a plus.

Title: Restoration Technician / General Laborer / (Cleaning & Construction)

FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: Norwalk, CT

Hourly Range: $18.00 to $22.00, Hourly Rate (Depends on Experience)

DESCRIPTION

The Restoration Technician performs production processes to fulfill the service needs of individual restoration projects and maintains the professional appearance of SERVPRO equipment, as well as an assigned service vehicle. By providing quality, consistent, efficient work, the Restoration technician represents the best in the cleanup and restoration industry. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibility and Support
  • Inventory and load the work vehicle with equipment, products, and supplies needed for each project.
  • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and clean equipment appearance.
  • Perform production processes, demolition and other labor intensive tasks;
  • Perform fire and water damage restoration, extracting standing water, demolition, etc.
  • Prepare rooms/areas for work activities;
  • Set up staging area and placing equipment for each project.
  • Adhere to safety and risk management guidelines at all times.
  • Communicate with restoration supervisor, other technicians, project manager, office and management personnel to maintain efficient production processes.
  • Perform end-of-day/end-of-job cleanup and breakdown.
  • Leave jobsite with a clean and orderly appearance.
Other
  • Removing and installation of carpet, padding, vinyl, and wood flooring is a plus!
  • Patching sheetrock/drywall, taping, sanding, and painting is a plus!
  • Removing and installing of floor molding is a plus!
  • Other ad-hoc duties assigned and requested by management.
Skills/Physical Demands/Competencies:
  • Effective communication with basic math and computer skills; preferred
  • Experience in cleaning/restoration; preferred
  • IICRC certifications; preferred
  • Valid drivers license; required
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objectsAbility to work with/around cleaning products/chemicals
  • Ability to travel locally and out of state when necessary
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check subject to applicable law
  • Previous experience cleaning, restoration, general labor or construction industry; preferred
  • Ability to respond appropriately and interact positively with customers
  • Must have a professional appearance and great attitude
  • Capable to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment

Schedule:
  • 8+ Hour Day / 40+ Hours Per Week Shift, flexible to work overtime when required
  • Monday to Friday (Regular Work Shift)
  • Must be willing to be on call occasionally due to our 24-hour emergency services
  • Some night and weekend work are required
Overtime Requirement:

We are a 24/7 Emergency Services business. You will occasionally be expected to work nights and weekends to assist our customers in their time of need during storms, cold weather, and other natural or man-made emergency situations.

On-Call Crew:
  • As part of our 24-hour emergency services operation, employees are required to serve as an On-Call Crew for one week per month, which is calendared in advance, covering after-hours shift.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment: This position will be in the field on job sites, commercial, and residential properties;

  • Not eligible for office, hybrid or remote.

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in the field on jobsites; commercial, and residential properties and requires the ability to operate standard equipment. Work that includes moving objects between 50-100 pounds may be required.
