University of the Pacific seeks a Field Coordinator and Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor (Remote) to oversee field education for the MSW program, focusing on Southern California partnerships and Los Angeles region activities. The MSW Program offers a specialized practice concentration inhealth care and social work, with opportunities for students tofocus further in health-related and behavioral health areas. Thecurriculum follows the competency-based education model of theCouncil on Social Work Education (CSWE) and integratesinter-professional and simulation lab training activities.
The accelerated hybrid program includes a sixteen (16) monthaccelerated sequence for students with any bachelor's degree exceptfor social work and a twelve (12) month advanced standing optionfor students with a bachelor's degree in social work.
The MSW Field Coordinator faculty at the University of the Pacificis responsible for providing all aspects of didactic and clinicaleducation for the Program and participating in cross-teachingactivities within the School of Health Sciences, emphasizing FieldEducation.
Familiarity with field-related aspects of CSWE accreditationstandards preferred.
Scholarship activities are valued at the University of the Pacificand are incorporated into all faculty roles.
This position is intended to support field education activities andagency partnerships in Southern California, with a primary focus onthe Los Angeles region. Candidates must reside in or be able toregularly travel throughout the Southern California/Los Angelesarea to fulfill field education responsibilities.
Service is expected to the Program, the University, the communityand the MSW profession. This may include committee work and otheractivities such as participation in faculty development activities,student-faculty functions, and in graduation and convocationceremonies.
Workload varies by trimester, but is assigned by the ProgramDirector in consultation with the Director of Field Education.Emphasis is placed on balancing the academic requirements teaching,scholarship, and service over the course of each year. The specificworkload and scheduling will be adjusted based on the needs of thefaculty members and the program.
This is a non-tenure track position. The initial academic rank ofAssistant or Associate Clinical Professor will be determined by thepromotion and tenure committee, based upon the individual'squalifications and experience.
Faculty members maintain a dossier, which provides documentation oftheir activities and accomplishments during their academic careers. This document is valuable for planning and maintaining balance inactivities and serves as essential documentation for promotionreview by the University.
Faculty members' activities and accomplishments in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service are evaluated yearly by the MSWProgram Director, with these evaluations being forwarded to theDean of the School of Health Sciences. Yearly evaluations may also be used to determine merit salary increases.
