Job summary
GrayMatter is seeking a highly skilled Field Controls Engineer to join our team and own complex, on‑site control systems projects across the country. You’ll troubleshoot, commission, and support automation for material handling and distribution systems, traveling to client sites to install and validate systems.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Rockwell PLC experience, and the ability to read schematics and program PLC/HMI.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Rockwell PLC experience is required.
- Hands-on experience commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting industrial automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control documentation.
- Excellent communication and field collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Commission, start up, and troubleshoot industrial control systems on customer sites.
- Perform I/O checkout, device validation, and field modifications during startup.
- Support PLC/HMI programming modifications to ensure production readiness.
- Travel independently to customer sites 80–100% of the time.
- Document commissioning activities and communicate project status to stakeholders.
