Job summary

GrayMatter is seeking a Control Systems Analyst I to support startup and commissioning on active data center projects. You will be onsite, traveling as needed to validate mechanical, electrical, and building systems while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role emphasizes field-level controls work, point-to-point checkout, network startup, instrumentation calibration, SCADA integration, and PLC programming. Strong English skills and a hands-on mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Controls Systems Technology or equivalent required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in controls and commissioning environments.
  • English speaking, reading and writing required.
  • Proficient computer skills and technical aptitude.
  • Strong customer service mindset and attention to detail.
  • Organized work habits and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Exposure to power and building management systems preferred.
  • Hands-on PLC and SCADA integration experience preferred.
  • Experience calibrating and commissioning instrumentation and network equipment preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 90%), including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Support point-to-point checkout, functional performance testing, and system validation during commissioning.
  • Monitor data accuracy, alarms, trends, and system responses for reliability.
  • Coordinate between mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for seamless operation.
  • Configure and validate control system databases, graphics, and alarming strategies.
  • Assist with commissioning procedures, test scripts, and documentation validation.
  • Document deficiencies and track items through resolution.
  • Sustain collaboration with engineers and field technicians to improve performance.
  • Assist with network configuration and troubleshooting (IP addressing, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, BACnet).
  • Support vendor coordination and system startups for third-party equipment integration.
  • Maintain technical documentation including redlines, as-builts, and configurations.
  • Contribute to standardization efforts and best practices; complete timecards and expense reports.
