Job summary

NY Creates is seeking a Field Construction Technician to coordinate on-site activities, interface with contractors, and ensure safety and schedule adherence for capital projects. You will review drawings, support design reviews, and manage field punch lists with a focus on quality and efficiency.

The role requires an Associate degree and 5+ years in facilities or semiconductor construction, with strong ability to read drawings and contract documents.

Job Description:

Position Summary, Field Construction Technician

The Field Construction Technician monitors all construction activities and serves as NY Creates representative in the field to construction management firms and subcontractors. The position interfaces with Facilities Operations, Engineering, and project stakeholders to provide field coordination, support project execution, review construction documents, oversee contractor activities, and ensure adherence to project requirements and site safety procedures. The role supports capital projects from planning through commissioning and startup while helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor all construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, schedules, and site standards.
• Serve as NY Creates field representative to construction management firms, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Interface with Facilities Operations, Engineering, and project stakeholders to support construction execution and resolve field issues.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and P&IDs to understand project scope and support field activities.
• Participate in design reviews and provide constructability feedback based on field experience and lessons learned.
• Assist with permit preparation, shutdown planning, and construction coordination activities.
• Oversee contractor activities and ensure compliance with site safety requirements and established procedures.
• Investigate project impacts, field issues, and contractor incidents; identify root causes and support corrective actions.
• Review completed work for compliance with design specifications, functionality, quality, fit, and finish requirements.
• Develop and manage project punch lists and support project closeout activities.
• Assist with construction coordination, commissioning, and startup activities for capital projects.
• Maintain effective working relationships with contractors, construction management personnel, and internal stakeholders.
• Support project documentation, tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Field Construction Technician

• Associate degree in Construction Management or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience within a facilities organization, major semiconductor manufacturer, or technical construction environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large construction or capital projects.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications, Field Construction Technician

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience within the facilities organization of a major semiconductor manufacturer or technical construction company.
• Demonstrated project experience on large construction projects.

Salary Range:$41-47/hour
