Job summary

STV currently has openings for Technical Assistants for Construction Inspection in the Transportation group in Pennsylvania. These roles require travel to field sites, offices, and labs across PA, with immediate assignments in various regions.

The team supports PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED; post-secondary coursework in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED; travel to field sites, offices, and labs.
• Post-secondary coursework in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.
• Willingness to pursue PennDOT/PennDOT-related certifications including NICET, NECEPT, ACI, and OSHA.
• Review contractor procedures, materials, and work for conformance with plans and specs.
• Prepare written inspection reports with quantity calculations and witness materials testing.
• Learn and apply PennDOT highway/bridge specs, drawings, and standards.
• Math skills for linear, area, and volume measurements and payment calculations.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
• Learn STV timesheet/expense apps and client documentation tools.
• Assist in documenting project activities and tracking status; support payments/change orders.
• Written and verbal communication to keep projects on track and budgets.
• Willingness to work safely and travel to sites; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction in progress and witness material tests.
• Prepare and submit written inspection reports and calculations.
• Document contractor compliance with plans and specs.
• Support payments and change order documentation.
• Travel to field sites and coordinate with PM teams.
• Maintain safety and OSHA guidelines on site.
