Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Construction Inspector for our Charleston, WV office. The role provides construction oversight, daily documentation, and coordination with project engineers and contractors on local projects.

The position may involve inspection across WV and requires a valid driver’s license and travel as needed. Candidates should understand contract documents, plans and specs, and be able to communicate effectively with field teams while adhering to safety protocols and quality

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret contract documents, plans and specs.
• Experience communicating with construction teams and contractors.
• Knowledge of GPS data collection and site safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe construction to document work per contract documents and specs.
• Perform full-time observation and documentation processes.
• Prepare detailed Daily Reports for client submission.
• Provide site support for on-site engineering subcontractors.
• Adhere to safety protocols and monitor potentially unsafe actions.
• Identify and document potential project issues.
• Monitor on-site activities and represent the firm professionally.
• Liaise with customers and the public on projects with quality.
• Acquire temporary easements and rights of way as directed.
• Operate GPS equipment for project data capture.
• Operate a vehicle for business purposes.
• Some overnight travel may be required.
