French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering Department in Hackettstown, NJ. This role monitors field activities, documents progress, and helps ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, permits, and applicable standards for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction inspection or observation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to documentation accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with field reporting or construction management software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple project sites.

Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect construction activities for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Monitor contractor work for compliance with plans, specs, permits, and standards.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports with site conditions, quantities, and progress.
• Track installed quantities to support payments and project documentation.
• Capture photographic documentation of progress and field conditions.
• Serve as field liaison between contractors, clients, agencies, and the design team.
• Attend progress meetings and provide updates on work status and challenges.
• Verify materials, equipment, and workmanship meet project specifications.
• Assist with review of shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
• Monitor project schedules and communicate potential delays.
• Ensure safety standards and report unsafe conditions.
• Coordinate with utility companies and municipalities during operations.
• Support project closeout activities and as-built documentation.
