Job summary

State of Indiana in Indiana is seeking a Bridge/Infrastructure Technician to calibrate, operate, and analyze data from field tests on Indiana’s infrastructure. The role covers statewide data collection for pavement and bridge projects, including field testing, R&D lab work, and potential snow removal duties in winter.

The position requires CDL within 90 days, ability to lift 50 pounds, and proficiency with GPS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.
• Must endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Knowledge of highway statutes, rules, and regulations; operate specialty traffic equipment.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team; GPS experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access.
• Ability to read and interpret bridge plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard, special and emergency inspections on bridges and large culverts with a two-person team.
• Maintain and update the Bridge Inspection and Asset Database.
• Prepare reports detailing inspection findings and update visuals.
• Collect and review data for site inspections.
• Assist district bridge crews and support operational efficiency.
• Plow snow as needed.
