Job summary

Garver in Kansas City, MO seeks a Construction Inspector to oversee roadway, bridge, airports, water and wastewater projects, and utility construction. You will inspect, test materials, and document activities under the supervision of the Project Engineer or Manager on site.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of inspection experience, Missouri/Kansas DOT certifications, a valid driver's license, and MS Office proficiency; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction inspections and materials testing.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current and valid driver’s license is required.
• Proficient with MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication experience.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Possess inspection and/or material testing certifications for Missouri or Kansas DOT.
• Willingness to travel for projects.

Responsibilities

• Interacting with clients, contractors, the public, and Garver staff on the job site.
• Regular use of written and oral communication skills.
• Reading and interpreting construction plans, project specifications, testing reports, schedules and other documents.
• Analyzing and solving problems.
• Observing and interpreting situations on construction job sites.
• Performing highly detailed work on multiple tasks with deadlines.
• Conduct construction materials testing to verify contract compliance.
• Ensure contractor work meets contract requirements and discuss discrepancies with the Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
• Prepare daily reports of construction activities, weather, personnel, materials and equipment on site.
• Measure, calculate, and report quantities of work performed for progressive pay estimates.
