Job summary

Bernalillo County in Albuquerque is seeking a Construction Inspector to monitor the inspection, testing, and evaluation of roadways, bridges, buildings, and utility systems to maintain safety and operational effectiveness. You will prepare daily and monthly reports, interpret plans and specifications, and verify contract compliance with county standards.

This role is outdoors predominantly and requires a high school diploma or GED plus four years of related construction experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Four (4) years of work experience in general construction, testing of roadways, earthworks, underground utilities, culverts, bridges and other public works facilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the inspection of roads, bridges, drainage facilities, buildings, underground utilities, and other construction projects to ensure work quality and progress align with prescribed schedules and specifications.
• Monitors testing water pumping systems, electronic controls, and pressurized pipe systems.
• Prepares daily and monthly reports on work performed, including progress, quality, and estimated costs, in comparison with work schedules to assess compliance and support partial payments to contractors and vendors.
