Job summary

City of Corpus Christi is seeking a Construction Inspector I to conduct on-site inspections for municipal infrastructure projects in Corpus Christi, TX. You will ensure compliance with IDM/UDC and contract specifications, maintain daily logs, and collaborate with contractors and engineers to resolve issues.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and four years of related municipal infrastructure experience; expect flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Four (4) years of experience in Municipal Infrastructure or another related field.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with local, state, UDC, IDM, regulations and approved plans.
• Monitors contractor activities and verify work meets quality standards and project specifications.
• Assists in reviewing construction plans and specifications to identify potential issues before construction begins.
• Documents inspection results, noting any deviations from approved plans, and provides recommendations for corrective actions.
• Maintains detailed daily logs and prepare comprehensive reports on the status and progress of construction projects.
• Communicates effectively with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers regarding inspection findings.
• Assists in reviewing and verifying contractors’ work completion for reimbursement agreement payment requests.
• Ensures all safety protocols are being followed on the construction site.
• Attends project meetings and provides input on construction progress and potential issues.
