Description
Overview

The Construction Inspector II supports the IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quanity) team by performing field inspections to ensure construction work mees contracts requirements, codes, and safety standards. This role involves monitoring multiple task orders, documenting progress, identifying issues, and coordinating with contractors and project teams to ensure quality and compliance. The Construction Inspector II requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and effective communication across diverse teams. This role demands significant experience in Utility inspection, with inspection expertise being a pivotal qualification.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures adherence to plans and specifications for underground utility construction projects
  • Entails comprehending all project requirements and specifications and verifying that the contractor complies
  • Maintains precise daily activity reports for the project
  • Requires flexibility and adaptability as project scopes and priorities may shift frequently under the IDIQ contract model
  • Offers mentorship and training as necessary to enhance the Construction Inspectors I’s skills and effectiveness
  • Generates daily reports, authorizing pay estimates, processing in collaboration with T&M submittals, thoroughly examining change orders, and reviewing/responding to contractors RFI’s
  • Ensures smooth and efficient operations of the administrative aspect within the scope of this role
  • Controls billing for the projects managed by Construction Inspector II in collaboration with the Engineering Project Specialist
  • Requires frequent involvement during difficult interactions and requires a high level of diplomacy
  • Entails working closely with citizens affected by project construction, addressing their complaints as they arise during the process
  • Ensures that all necessary tests are completed promptly and efficiently
  • Oversees the scheduling, implementation, and documentation of tests, guaranteeing compliance with project requirements and standards
  • Serves as the central point of contact for coordinating with design consultations to address queries, resolve issues, and provide clarification on project plans and specifications
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
  • Non-Exempt – Full Time
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
  • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Five (5) years’ experience in municipal infrastructure construction or other related field
Certifications, Licenses or other requirements
  • A valid driver’s license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire
  • First Aid -Upon hire date
  • CPR – Upon hire date

Basis of Rating
