Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) invites applicants for the District 61, Unit 216/West Baton Rouge Parish Construction Inspector Assistant role. The incumbent will assist professional engineers and inspectors in construction inspection, under supervision, with potential night/evening shifts and driving responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Utilize knowledge of department procedures, policies, standards, and specs in inspecting construction work and processing field diaries and estimates.
• Serve as primary construction inspector for designated areas and verify elevations/alignments for surveys.
• Review haul tickets for load compliance and prepare reports and quantities; may serve as primary asphalt plant technician.
• Enter construction project data into SiteManager & LIMS.
• Attend preconstruction and progress meetings when designated as primary inspector and provide quantities and insights for design-phase projects.
