Ready to power up your career? Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration team is looking for a Field Commissioning Engineer to join our mission of energizing the future. This remote role offers the best of both worlds—flexibility and adventure—with up to 70% travel across North America. You’ll work hands-on with advanced substation and FACTS technologies, ensuring seamless integration and performance. How you'll make an impact
Perform hands-on commissioning of substation and FACTS equipment
Test and validate AC/DC circuits, protection systems, and interlocks
Support installation and energization of transformers, switchgear, and cooling systems
Collaborate with teams to ensure safety and quality standards
Interpret technical drawings and relay information to project teams
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time on-site
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety protocols
Represent Hitachi Energy with professionalism and technical expertise
Your background
Bachelor’s degree in an electrical-related field
3–5 years of experience in HV substation or power quality commissioning
Familiar with SVC, STATCOM, capacitor banks, and related systems
Skilled in testing transformers, relays, SCADA/RTU, and protection circuits
Strong understanding of electrical schematics and technical documentation
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
